BARANGAROO SOUTH
Barangaroo South will be a truly great urban precinct, featuring a public waterfront, shops, a department store, supermarkets, waterfront restaurants, a museum, library, an international hotel, 500 apartments, including key worker housing, and a financial headquarters for top Australian and international corporations. The Southern Cove is designed to bring people onto the waterfront and become a place for waterside activities. Hickson Road will be designed to become a great city boulevard and a vital public transport connection, including a major pedestrian connection through to Wynyard station and the city. It will have a pedestrian and cycle friendly waterfront promenade, creating the entry statement for the hotel on the new public pier and commercial buildings which will house major national and international corporations. It will offer an eclectic mix of experiences from restaurants and bars to farmers market and retail stores. Construction work is expected to commence on site in late 2010, with the first building targeted for completion in 2014. The Lend Lease proposal requires a further public process to permit the elements that fall outside the current Concept Plan for Barangaroo. Lend Lease will submit an application to the NSW Department of Planning, expected to be lodged during 2010.
