BARANGAROO CENTRAL

Barangaroo Central and the Northern Cove sits between the Headland Park and Barangaroo South. It will provide significant civic, educational and recreational spaces, places and attractions for our city. Barangaroo Central will be complemented by the creation of a large water inlet to be known as the Northern Cove. The Northern Cove will create 2.7 hectares of new harbour water area.

Barangaroo Central is the opportunity to define Barangaroo's contribution to Sydney. It's also an important transition along the waterfront walk from the southern urban space to the natural form of the Headland Park.

Barangaroo Central will also have its own vital pedestrian links to connect its low-rise residential, commercial and civic buildings back to the city and should provide a key meeting space for the people of Sydney.

At this early stage of generating ideas for Barangaroo Central, the Barangaroo Delivery Authority and Barangaroo Design Excellence Review Panel, in consultation with a variety of stakeholders, has devised some working principles to guide thinking about what Barangaroo Central can do for Sydney.

A community consultation phase will be undertaken by the Barangaroo Delivery Authority during 2010, to find out what the greater Sydney community wants in Barangaroo Central. Necessary planning approvals will follow.
