The design team for the Headland Park are using
different techniques to test the creation of a naturalistic
headland for the northern end of Barangaroo.
The sandstone buried beneath the wharf
will be dug out and used to create the park. The construction
of the Barangaroo Headland Park and reworking of the sandstone will
not only create a spectacular new green space for Sydney but will
symbolise a connection with our history.
Accessible rock pools and weathered sandstone
will once again fringe the harbour so the people of Sydney and its
visitors can splash their feet in its sparkling waters.
In June 2011, Laing O'Rourke completed
constructing the 'sandstone prototype' to gain knowledge and
perfect their technique for the construction of the foreshore.
