The creation of Barangaroo is long term and
will take around 20 years to complete the buildings and
infrastructure. When complete Barangaroo will accommodate
over 23,000 workers and residents, in addition to hosting an
estimated 33,000 visitors a day or 12 million a year.
An indicative timeline is as follows:
2012
- Commence Bulk Excavation for basement construction and first
commercial towers at Barangaroo South
- Headland Park construction continues
- Commence construction of Wynyard Barangaroo Pedestrian

2014
- Commence construction of hotel** (subject to relocation
negotiations)
- Barangaroo Central works continue
- Remediation of former Millers Point Gasworks continues and
nears completion
2015
- Headland Park complete
- First two commercial buildings at Barangaroo South complete, as
well as waterfront residential, promenade and Hickson Road
commercial
- Wynyard Walk and other pedestrian linkages complete
- Barangaroo Central promenade works complete to link South and
Headland Park
2016
- Barangaroo Central works continue
- Third commercial tower
- Hotel completed ** (subject to relocation negotiations).
2017-2020
- Barangaroo Central works continue and complete
- Barangaroo South works continue and complete
