Today, the NSW Premier, The Hon. Mike Baird MP, joined more than 100 guests to celebrate the ‘topping out’ of Tower 3 at Barangaroo South that was hosted by Lend Lease.
The topping out ceremony is an ancient Scandinavian ritual whereby a tree is placed on top of the building to celebrate the structure reaching its highest point. This ceremony is said to appease any tree dwelling spirits potentially displaced in its construction.
Guests at the ceremony included the anchor tenants, KPMG and Lend Lease as well as a wide range of media organisations.
Tower 3 comprises 39 levels and construction has taken 23 months with more than 1.3 million worker hours completed to reach the highest point of the 168 metre structure.
When completed in mid-next year, the lobby and podium of Tower Three will have a range of retailers including David Jones and Campos Coffee, as well as a medical centre, a pharmacy, a noodle bar and a fresh food providore.
