Sustainability
Climate commitments and sustainability define how planning and design approaches shape the entire Barangaroo precinct.
Barangaroo’s development has always been about returning the western harbour to the people of Sydney. Once complete, more than 50% of Barangaroo will be public open space including parklands, community spaces, waterfront walks and busy, active streetscapes.
Partnering with world-leading architects, developers, landscape architects and creators, all public open spaces are designed and built to the highest quality. These are places for people to meet, gather and relax on Sydney’s iconic harbour, enjoying a range of programmed events or meeting friends at restaurants and bars.
Barangaroo Reserve features lookouts, walking and cycling trails, idyllic coves, picnic spots and places to relax. People can learn more about the area’s history through the Barangaroo Ngangamay mobile phone app.
Hickson Park is a cooler, shaded park with an open green lawn and native trees. Watermans Cove is an amphitheatre-style boardwalk that leads to Wulugul Walk, a tree-lined harbourfront path running north-south.
Returning Barangaroo to the people of Sydney requires easy connections to the rest of the CBD and wider Sydney.
