Barangaroo Reserve has been named as a finalist in the 2016 Premier’s Awards

7 Oct 2016

Barangaroo Reserve is once again in the running for a major award, having been announced as a finalist in the Building Infrastructure category of the NSW Premier’s Awards.

The complex design, deconstruction and reconstruction process took four years to complete and presented engineering challenges and risks never before seen. This included the placement of 10,000 sandstone blocks, each weighing up to 15 tonnes each, extracted from site to reconstruct the foreshore. The project involved 1.5 million man hours without a single lost time injury to the 300-strong workforce.

Today, Barangaroo Reserve has become a “must do” on the itineraries of tourists and locals alike, with one million people visiting in the first 12 months since opening in August 2015.

The Premier’s Awards will be announced on 25 October at Sydney Town Hall.
