These school holidays, get outdoors and enjoy Sydney’s newest harbourside horticultural oasis on a 90 minute hands-on walking tour designed especially for families.

Filled with fascinating facts and fun craft activities, kids will enjoy learning about different varieties of wattle as well as the native Australian trees and plants covering the six-hectare headland.

Learn something new

The soft, golden flowers of wattles have long held special meaning. The wattle features on the coat of arms and its colours have inspired sporting teams. Before this and for many thousands of years, wattles also healed and sustained Indigenous communities.

Led by Aboriginal guides, this tour introduces kids to the wonderful wattle. Budding botanists will learn about different varieties of Acacia plant and discover how wattle is used by Aboriginal people for food, medicine and material.

Get crafty

Kids will even get the chance to create a memento of their visit to take home, with nature-inspired craft activities.
