Sunset20°N

2 - 25 February 2018

Gorgeous sunsets are a cause for celebration any day of the week. Sunset20°N in Barangaroo Reserve took this to the next level with a concert series across four weekends of spectacular sunsets in February 2018. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Sydney Harbour, visitors enjoyed a free program every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the month.

Inspired by Barangaroo's namesake, a strong female leader of the Cammeraygal people, Sunset20°N showcased the best Australian female voices and chefs. During the month, visitors were also able to explore an interactive artwork installation called Grandmother Tree by Yuwaalaraay artist and designer Lucy Simpson of Gaawaa Miyay.

Sunset20°N bucked the music industry trend of festivals dominated by male artists and presented a contemporary music lineup led by Australian female artists. Across the four weekends, over 9,000 people watched inspiring performances by Sampa the Great, Wallace, GL, Caiti Baker, Thandi Phoenix, Pirra, Mama Kin Spender and the Inner West Voices, Tesse, Tigertown, Tia Gostelow, Thelma Plum, The Morrisons, OKENYO, Emma Davis and Saskwatch. While the bands took a break, some of Sydney's best DJs hit the decks, including Shantan Wantan Ichiban, FlexMami, Natalia, Levins and Ebony Boadu, along with a special DJ set by GL and Saskwatch.

Complimenting the music program, the food on offer changed each week with guest chefs Claire van Vuuren (Bloodwood), Thi Le (Anchovy), Jane Strode (Fred's) and Analiese Gregory (Franklin) each curating a weekend's menu, drawing inspiration from the site's location in Gadigal Country and seasonal native ingredients.

Sunset20°N was a collaboration between the Barangaroo Delivery Authority and Yuwaalaraay artist and designer Lucy Simpson of Gaawaa Miyay.
