The Barangaroo Delivery Authority is a NSW Government agency established under the Barangaroo Delivery Authority Act 2009 to manage the waterfront development at Barangaroo. The Authority is the landowner, and oversees all design, sustainability, financial, public art and public domain obligations throughout the tenure.

The Authority is governed by a Board of Directors. It sits within the portfolio of the NSW Premier, the Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP.

The Barangaroo Delivery Authority Act 2009 was established on 30 March 2009 to specify the Authority's functions, and to provide for other matters related to the development, use and management of Barangaroo.

The Objectives of the Act and, in turn, the Authority are:

  • to encourage the development of Barangaroo as an active, vibrant and sustainable community and as a location for national and global business;
  • to create a high-quality commercial and mixed-use precinct connected to, and supporting, the economic development of Sydney;
  • to facilitate the establishment of Barangaroo Reserve and public domain land;
  • to promote the orderly and sustainable development of Barangaroo, balancing social, economic and environmental outcomes; and
  • to create in Barangaroo an opportunity for design excellence outcomes in architecture and public domain design.

The assessment of planning applications is undertaken independently by the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure. All planning applications and determinations can be viewed at the NSW Department of Planning and Environment's website.

The Authority is also responsible for all roads at Barangaroo under the Roads Regulation 2008, reinforcing the NSW Government's commitment to the successful implementation of this landmark development.
