Sydney’s stunning new headland park has been named Australia’s Project of the Year by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia at its National Infrastructure Awards.
The IPA awards celebrate and acknowledge the innovation and excellence of Australia’s public and private sectors in the delivery of infrastructure and the awards reflect IPA’s principles of best practice in procurement, design and delivery of key assets and services.
Barangaroo Reserve received the top honour from IPA because it recognises the growing importance of community infrastructure.
The Reserve has also been named Architizer A+Award Jury Winner in the Typology Categories Landscape & Planning: Public Park category.
The jury of some 300 architects, designers, cultural thought leaders and developers chose Barangaroo Reserve from entries from 100 countries representing the best of architecture and design.
Since opening in August 2015, Barangaroo Reserve has also been awarded the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) 2015 AILA NSW President’s Choice in Landscape Award; the World Architecture News (WAN) Waterfront 2015 Award for its importance of the connection between urban development and water; and the 2015 Banksia Sustainability in Design, Build Award for Buildings, Landscapes and Infrastructure Projects.
