Barangaroo’s second timber building approved

7 Jun 2018

A second spectacular timber building will soon take shape at Barangaroo following planning approval for Daramu House.

Daramu House will be a sister building to the award-winning International House Sydney, which was Australia’s first engineered timber office building when it was completed in 2017.

Daramu means tree in the aboriginal Sydney language (also known as Dharug and Eora).

Featuring cross laminated timber and glulam (glue laminated timber), and a glass façade, the building will accommodate more than 10,000 m2 of commercial floor space and about 680 m2 of new retail space at street level. The seven storey building will be located between Tower 1 of International Towers Sydney and Hickson Road.

Lendlease will construct the building using materials from its precision timber manufacturing centre in Eastern Creek in Western Sydney.

Daramu House is due for completion in late 2019.
