Getting to Barangaroo is easy with access via train, bus, ferry, cycling, walking and, by 2024, by Metro.

The Barangaroo Integrated Transport Plan was released in 2012 to plan for the transport needs of the precinct. Integrated transport means that every aspect of getting to Barangaroo works together and that peoples' journeys are as easy as possible. It means, for example, that the whole precinct is designed in such a way that catching public transport to and from is the easiest option. It means that two pedestrian bridges over Hickson Road were integral to the success of the precinct because they link the CBD and the western waterfront in a safe and efficient way.

Integrated transport planning also encourages people to think about "trip linking", which is the entire journey from front door to destination using different means including walking, cycling and public transport.

The Plan's development was led by Transport for NSW in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Infrastructure NSW, the Barangaroo Delivery Authority and the City of Sydney.

It identified a number of projects to improve access to and from Barangaroo, including the Wynyard Walk, pedestrian bridges across Hickson Rd/Sussex St, the Barangaroo Wharf and improved rail access.

Several of these projects have since been completed, including Wynyard Walk and two pedestrian bridges across Hickson Road: Sussex Street Bridge and Napoleon Bridge. The Barangaroo Wharf opened on 26 June 2017. A Metro station for Barangaroo is in delivery, due to open in 2024.
