Join us these July school holidays for some fun and active Aboriginal dance workshops (for children aged  5-13 years).

Hosted by Jannawi Dance Clan, participants in this 90 minute program will enjoy:

  • a cultural clap stick dance warm up,
  • traditional footstep techniques,
  • 2 traditional songs in Darug language; and
  • the accompanying dances to the songs.

Jannawi Dance Clan is an Indigenous dance company encompassing modern urban and traditional Aboriginal dance styles that is led by Artistic Director Peta Strachan, a descendant of the Darug people of the Boorooberongal clan of NSW.

Peta is a professional dancer choreographer, teacher and costume maker with 31 year’s experience in the industry.

In 1994 Peta was invited to join the Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre (AIDT) and then joined Bangarra dance theatre in 2000 for four years. Touring nationally and internationally with both companies.
