Barangaroo powered by four regional solar farms in major sustainability milestone
Barangaroo has reached a major sustainability milestone, with all four regional solar farms supporting the precinct now online and generating renewable energy.
The completion of the Carawatha Solar Farm in the NSW Riverina marks the final step in a first-of-its-kind 25-year Green Product Purchase Agreement with CleanPeak Energy, helping secure Barangaroo’s net zero future through to 2050.
Together with the solar farms at Hay, Moama and Uranquinty, the four projects generate around 55,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy each year. That is the equivalent of powering around 10,000 homes and contributes new renewable energy generation to the NSW grid.
The agreement secures renewable energy certificates for Barangaroo at a fixed rate, giving long-term certainty while reducing exposure to market volatility. It also supports the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap by adding renewable energy capacity and strengthening network reliability as the state transitions to cleaner energy.
Barangaroo is also celebrating its 10th consecutive year of carbon neutral certification. This latest milestone builds on the precinct’s longstanding leadership in sustainability and demonstrates how long-term partnerships can deliver environmental, economic and community benefits.
The four solar farms are also delivering strong benefits for regional NSW, supporting construction jobs, local investment and ongoing operational roles in the communities where they are located.
