Most waiting rooms aren’t places we’d care to spend a sunny afternoon, but this Barangaroo bar is a notable exception. They serve one of Sydney’s largest collections of vintage champagnes, alongside a decadent menu and bespoke cocktails with an up-close view of Sydney’s harbour.

The Waiting Room was designed by New York’s Meyer Davis, one of the world’s leading design practices. It combines old-world sophistication with rich detailing in an indoor bar and two outdoor terraces by the harbour.
The drinks list matches the elegant design, featuring dozens of bottles of vintage and non-vintage Champagne from wineries all over France’s famed growing region. There’s also bespoke cocktails, a long wine list and a broad selection of high-end spirits from scotch to mezcal.
A menu of perfectly executed classics
The dining menu at The Waiting Room includes high teas and dishes with French and Australian influences. There’s octopus carpaccio with parmesan and a classic steak frites with an Australian angus tenderloin.
In the morning there’s also a breakfast menu of brunch favourites with a sophisticated twist, from jamón eggs benedict to smashed avo with goat’s curd and sourdough.
