This weekend, Barangaroo Sydney comes alive with culture, creativity and waterfront celebration as Barangaroo Live invites visitors to discover one of the city’s most vibrant precincts

Be among the first to experience the public opening of The Cutaway, a newly reimagined underground space dedicated to culture, learning and community.

Enjoy live music and performances, explore immersive art installations, and take part in Aboriginal cultural workshops. 

Wander the streets of Barangaroo South to experience a weekend of markets that are bursting with flavour, creativity and good vibes.

Celebrate weekend with meaningful moments shared together at Damulay Nguarang event, as we pay respect for National Reconciliation Week. 

With free, family‑friendly experiences for all ages, Barangaroo Live is a must‑visit event in Sydney this weekend.

Live artwork

Discover a live artwork demonstration by Shal. Guests will be welcomed to watch live art being painted on textile, drill fabric flat on the ground.

Shaun Daniel Allen (Shal) is a Yugambeh-born Bundjalung painter whose bold, lyrical work bridges Country, counterculture and global design. Rising rapidly since 2021, he’s earned major institutional commissions, acclaimed exhibitions, and high‑profile collaborations, redefining contemporary Australian art.

Artwork displays

A contemporary approach comes to life through a collaboration with artist Sophie Penkethman Young, with sculptural pieces placed throughout the space to create moments of discovery as you wander.

Sophie Penkethman‑Young is an artist and digital producer living on unceded Gadigal Land. Her practice spans exhibition, performance and 3D work, with presentations at Artspace, Gertrude Contemporary, Verge Gallery, Liveworks, Seventh Gallery, and Mais Wright, including major projects in 2022 and 2025.

Barangaroo Markets

The Barangaroo Markets are back for Barangaroo Live bringig a weekend of fun-filled day of shopping, live music, entertainment, and gourmet treats.

Cultural workshops

Celebrate the opening of The Cutaway with a fun, family‑friendly weekend of drop‑in creative activities. Kids of all ages can explore art, culture and discovery through hands‑on workshops, weaving sessions, and engaging artefact displays, while families wander, play and learn together at their own pace.

Aboriginal Cultural Tours

Experience the rich history and cultural significance of Sydney Harbour with Aboriginal Cultural Tours at Barangaroo. Led by a team of knowledgeable Aboriginal educators, these tours immerse visitors in the native history of the area and the deep cultural importance of the land to the Gadigal people

Getting here

The closest bus stops are in Hickson Road, close to Towns Place, and are serviced by routes 324 and 325, which depart from Town Hall; and route 311, which runs between Central Station and Argyle Street.

Wheelchair users accessing the park from the Towns Place entrance should be aware there is a 30m-long brick/cobbled pathway to navigate before the surface becomes completely smooth.

There are two accessible street parking bays on Towns Place, close to the entry to the carpark.

Wilson operate a car park beneath the Reserve, accessed via Towns Place. It provides eight accessible parking spaces on level B1. Please see Car Park website here for more details.

Barangaroo Metro Station is located beneath the northern end of Hickson Road, at Nawi Cove. The station is completely accessible via lifts.
The Hickson Road entrance to Barangaroo Reserve is recommended if arriving by taxi or being dropped off/picked up by private vehicle.

Wynyard and Circular Quay are both approximately 1.1km. Travel via Wynyard is a little quicker, and involves using Wynyard Walk tunnel. The tunnel exits at Napoleon Plaza, which connects to the lift at Sussex Street Bridge. You can reach Hickson Road via the lift.

Tactile Ground Surface Indicators and curb ramps are consistent from both locations. Shore lining from Circular Quay is more consistent than from Wynyard for white cane users.

The Cutaway project

The Cutaway is a events and cultural space carved from the sandstone underneath Barangaroo Reserve which has just reopened after 2 years of development.
